William Turner was fascinated by the gigantic energy ,wildness of nature and imposing beauty. The swiss mountains inspired him again. The Jura is a mountain range between Switzerland and France. Here are the gorges numerous and wild. Path from past centuries lead between rock walls: pilgrimages routes – roman trade routes – smuggler routes - anabaptists and anarchists. For everyone the canyon was like a house of protection. I keep discovering new gorges. Some are like oysters an shut themselves off from the intruder..The forests of Japan are filled with Shintho symbols and the Kamis are sitting everywhere. There are no ancestors in the Jura forests and no sense of the Hereafter. It’s just the wild and sublime nature.
