Traces of Echoes / Breath
Traces of Echoes / Breath is a journal about three pregnancies.
The artist recorded the echoes of light and sound related to these three journeys. The exhibition is the restless resonance of disappearing sounds and an internal process of visualizing these experiences. It is also a documentation of personal emotions that vibrated and imprinted upon time.
The shine of light allows objects to be seen. Traces of Echoes / Breath become the refraction of these memories and emotions — when events have severed the axis of time, sounds still float where space remains empty. This photographic journal uses fireworks as an introduction and pregnancies as threads that weave the chapters of loss and rebirth.
Each of these personal experiences — pregnancy loss by accident, giving birth to a daughter, and choosing to end a pregnancy — come together to form a clear timeline; however, in deep memory, these experiences do not unfold sequentially but in a loop of return, overlap, and reconstitution. Each experience seems to be not only a beginning of its own but also an echo. These repetitive motions — reminiscing, retracing, recreating — disable the linear passage of time and become an interwoven, reflective message.
The exhibition, consisting of three chapters — Echoes, Rebirth, and Return — together with a focal installation, Firework Shell, constructs a journal of life from the inside out. This conceptualization frames the audience not merely as witnesses to these events but as part of the echoes themselves. Between the acts of looking and touching, the audience may perceive dim lights and breathe within the interval between appearance and disappearance.
