Skototaxis
This exhibition presents "Skototaxis", a photographic series centered on the concept of skototaxis (negative phototaxis), consisting of street snapshots and portraits taken from the perspective of an urban dweller. The work builds upon a slide piece first presented at LONG SEASON PHOTOGRAPHERS SLIDESHOW Vol.8 in August 2025, inheriting its title while incorporating newly photographed images and reconstituted as a new body of work.
The venue, gallery Mori no Sakana, is a space that was once a residence inhabited by a Nishijin textile weaver, later left vacant for many years before being restored and revived as a gallery. Within this space, traces of former inhabitants intersect with the gaze of those living in the present.
