Mens et manus~hand and heart~
Since ancient times, people have had a fundamental desire to keep beautiful and captivating things close at hand. From cave paintings to paintings, and with the invention of photography in the modern age, the techniques for capturing images have diversified. In modern times, the act of capturing images with cameras and cell phones has become commonplace. However, there is still a discrepancy between what is captured in a photograph and what is received by the photographer's mind. In an attempt to fill this discrepancy, we added the process of working with our hands. These attempts can be described as an attempt to further embody the artist's prayer-like thoughts and feelings, or to clarify the unconscious fluctuations that lie deep within each of our hearts. It is as if it can only be found by using one's hands. “Mens et manus" means "hand and heart" in Latin. This exhibition is a group exhibition of four artists who have sublimated their handiworks into works of art by adding them to photography using a variety of techniques.
