Sight of Lemon

Gallery Take two

LEMON is a short story written by Motojiro Kajii in 1925. The era was a period of precarious uncertainties. The protagonist with a lung disease often walked around aimlessly in the streets of Kyoto. One day, he came across a lemon at a fruit shop, which gradually healed his melancholy feeling. LEMON has been capturing the hearts and imaginations of people. Michizo Tachihara, a poet and architect, was also enthralled by its poetic world view. In 1936 he took a walk in Teramachi street depicted in the story. In this exhibition we relive the world view of LEMON as well as that of Tachihara, focusing on their diversity in the form of an installation art composed of texts, objects, a video and pictures of Kyoto.
