MUGA recalls that his imagination was nurtured because his awakening to eroticism was suppressed by the regulations unique to Japan. And when he touched the real sex, he also says that he was disappointed by the lack of reality. He suspected that what he was excited about was not the hidden things, but the mosaics and black paint, that is, fiction. Tsukioka Settei's "Four Seasons Painting Volume" quoted this time is a "Shunga" that depicts the fellowship of men and women as if it were a flower of the four seasons. This work is currently owned by a British collector, so we can only see it in photographic image data. The series work "Four season's", which is the core of this exhibition, creates an abstract image based on the photographic data. The structure of this work, which invites the imagination of hidden things by inserting images such as mosaics and black paint, which are the regulatory expressions of Japanese adult magazines, into the motif of "Shunga" and reducing the information, is MUGA's. It will be a new work in which the fictional nature of the photograph to be considered and the hollowness of the truth coexist.
