This exhibition is a portfolio exhibition presented as part of the K-Youth × KG+ international exchange program. Rather than showcasing finished works, it foregrounds the portfolio as a form that traces processes and thoughts, allowing each artist’s current questions to emerge. Situated between Japan and Korea—neighboring countries with distinct histories and cultures—the exhibition opens a space where the expressions of a younger generation come into relation through perspectives moving between these contexts.

■ K-Youth × KG+ Youth
A new international exchange program for emerging artists connecting Kyoto and Korea is launching. Following an initial selection based on portfolio submissions, selected participants will present their original portfolios at Horikawa Oike Gallery in Kyoto during KG+ 2026. From this group, five artists will be chosen as “KG+ Youth” and invited to participate in K-Youth, a young artist support program based in Daegu, Korea, in autumn 2026. Through exchanges with local curators and artists, they will engage in both production and exhibition.
This project is not simply about gaining experience exhibiting abroad. It is about physically entering a context shaped by a different history and culture, despite being a neighboring country, and experiencing it firsthand. It is about re-examining one’s own practice within a broader global perspective. At its core, the program is designed to provide young artists with this process of encounter and reflection. We hope that this international experience will offer new perspectives that inform future artistic practice. This program is conceived as an opportunity for young artists who have exhibited in KG+ to take the next step in their development.
