iPhone Mixtape:A Collection of Images, 2021- 2025
In 2018, an unexpected accident during a data backup caused me to lose more than two years’ worth of photographs stored on my phone. This painful experience prompted me to reflect on the relationship between humans and their phones as tools. Mobile phones have become inseparable from modern life, and losing those two years of images felt equivalent to losing two years of my own memories.
This incident also led me to confront the question of storage media. The exhibition consists of three series of works: one presents discs onto which the photographs have been copied, displayed almost like sculptural objects; another is a fast-paced compilation of images that plays directly on a smartphone. Yet neither of these series can truly present the images I originally photographed. Ultimately, only the photo album presented in the form of a photobook becomes the place within the exhibition where the images can actually be seen.
