Pursuing the DNA of Japanese beauty
Here’s the English translation of the text from the image: This exhibition focuses on the period when themes such as "cherry blossoms" (sakura) and "gardens" (niwa)—symbolic of Japanese beauty—were innovatively explored, following influences from "JAZZ" and "Africa". The fantastical world of cherry blossoms, which links animism and mandalas with the Japanese sense of nature and ornamentation, culminates in "SAKURA-COSM", where the infinite depth of a "T-shaped 12-panel symmetry" evokes the elegance and refinement of kimonos while also concealing a bewitching sensuality. In the "garden", which resonates with the changing seasons to express beauty, the latent aesthetic DNA of the Japanese people is represented. Highlights include the ADC Award-winning CD-ROM "Gardens of Kyoto", and photographs used in the inaugural visual campaign for the Tokaido Shinkansen, "Yes, Let's Go to Kyoto".
