GENPATSU : a landscape transcend time vol.2

The strongest sense of incompatibility that nuclear power plants give me is the length of time they impose on us. It is said that humans must continue to manage nuclear power plants for 10,000 years. This is why I feel that they are beyond our reach. I continue to travel around Japan to confirm and record the appearance of nuclear power plants. They all face the coast, and together with the abundant nature, they form a unique landscape. Like nuclear power plants, the beautiful natural scenery of the locations in which they are located has also been shaped over a long period of time. A person is given around 100 years at most. As someone who lives in that timeline, I decided to use the Van Dyke Brown print technique, developed in the 19th century, to capture the nuclear power plant as a landscape on a different timeline. I thought it might be possible to capture the sense of "time" in a sepia-toned, monochrome image, created using a technique that was created over 150 years ago. This work is an attempt to express the asymmetry of "time" between people and nuclear power plants.
