Atsushi Shimosaka

Connecting with memories

For Atsushi Shimosaka, taking photographs is an act of prayer. Since beginning to live with dementia, he has been capturing "memory-connecting" photographs to preserve fading memories. Through the process of connecting memory and photography, he is striving to transform a fleeting moment into a world of eternity. Now, he has opened a small gallery where he engages deeply with his photographs. For him, this is also a precious moment to confront his own memories. To invite visitors into this space to experience the world as seen through the lens of dementia, he decided to hold this photography exhibition.
