Against the flow' Tale of a return to roots ‘Adopted at the age of one, Ukraine is my country of birth and origin. The desire to return is always there. In the current context, it's proving almost impossible. What can I do to find visual solutions to the question of returning to my roots? Based on my personal story, this project questions the reality and fiction of photographic images and the powers they wield. The pictures provide answers to these questions and fill a void. This trip to Ukraine appears to be a solution to a constraint, and the project is a quest that has only just begun.’ Kostia Hornain Debain, graduated in Art Direction from Penninghen in 2024, with honors.
