Yoshida Dormitory Photography Club

Yoshida Dormitory, the oldest student dormitory currently existing in Japan, has a 113-year history and is still home to more than one hundred students enrolled at Kyoto University.

On April 26, 2019, Kyoto University filed a lawsuit against 45 dormitory students living in the Old Building, a two-story wooden structure built in 1913, demanding that the students vacate the building. The university claims that the main reason for the lawsuit is the deterioration of the building.

On February 16, 2024, the first instance of this lawsuit ended in a partial victory for the students, which is a historical achievement. On August 25, 2025, the lawsuit was settled. We want to keep on this irreplaceable place, Yoshida Dormitory.
