Stanley Fung

“DUST ICON”, the solo exhibition by Taiwanese photographer Stanley Fung, After working in art- and photography-related fields, Fung became a pastor and, for nearly twenty years, has photographed a portrait series featuring church members and friends. Each portrait is inspired by stories from the Bible, conveying a profound view of humanity characteristic of biblical narratives.

Some of the works were created using a Nikon FM2. They were photographed mainly under simple conditions: a standard lens, a reflector, a blackout cloth, and a large window that lets in natural light. “I still consider myself an evangelist, photography remains just a hobby,” says Stanley Fung. However, renowned Chinese painter Chen Danqing evaluates this collection as “finding divinity within humans by seeing them from God’s perspective.”
