Silent Cradle

In recent years, raising a child has come to be seen as a “luxury,” and bonds have become a matter of personal choice.
In a society where family and generational continuity are disassembled into individual freedom, the artist continues to search for “invisible connections.”
In Japan, it has long been said that children grow by watching the backs of their parents.
Inspired by this belief, the artist works under the hypothesis that “bonds dwell in the back,” exploring a form of inheritance mediated through the body.
The gesture of gently covering a sleeping child with a blanket extends from countless similar acts performed in the past, where a fading memory of tenderness quietly breathes within its warmth.
This work contemplates emotions passed on without words, and the presence of “someone else’s memory” submerged deep within the body.
Silent Cradle portrays a “silent bond” that continues to be inherited through memory, even in an era where connection thins.
