This exhibition is an attempt in which two distinct fields of expression—photography and ceramics—intersect through the mediating context of Gojo as a place.

Part 1:
Photographer Naoyuki Ogino and three ceramic artists—Hiroaki Kiyomizu, Shinya Taniguchi and Akira Matsuda—step into one another’s professional domains, assuming the skills of others as an integral part of their own creative processes and entrusting the making of the works to one another.
The photographer creates ceramic works using the clay and glazes of each ceramic artist, which are then fired by the artists themselves in accordance with the photographer’s intentions. Conversely, the ceramic artists take photographs through dialogue with the photographer, and these images are realized by the photographer as alternative photographic prints.

Part 2:
Centered on hazama—“the in-between,” a concept that also underlies the exhibition as a whole—the photographer conducts interviews, from his own perspective, with parents and children from three families who have contributed to Gojo’s ceramic culture. Through the screening of video works, the exhibition explores how earth, flame, and skill have been handed down across generations.
This exhibition presents not only completed works, but also makes visible the acts of entrusting, intersecting, and inheriting. Through these processes, it reveals the Interwork that emerges within the spaces in between.
