Naoko Tamura / Anthony Plasse Exhibition Tracing the Obscurity
Photography has produced images of things as a technology that inscribes traces of reality within time. Through experimental approaches to photographic imagery by Naoko Tamura and Anthony Plasse, this exhibition elaborate on the interrelations between body and space, and the existence itself. Naoko Tamura engages over extended periods with people, house rooms, communities, and landscapes, reconfiguring bodily sensation and architectural space through photography and installation in order to reclaim the intimation of being. Anthony Plasse, meanwhile, reflects on the traces of notes and light, as well as the temporal and spatial conditions of a place and their perception, employing the silver gelatin process as a drawing-based method to generate a painterly space. When photographic images are inscribed onto a support as a form of presence, how might an existence that is not yet there be sensed as a resistance to representation in the here and now? We invite you to enter the traces of obscurity, faintly emerging from the penumbra of being.
