WE BLOOM
WE BLOOM!
In April 2024, Hualien was deeply scarred by a powerful earthquake.
Located on Taiwan’s eastern coast, this fertile and nature-rich land has repeatedly endured the forces of typhoons and earthquakes, yet it has continued—unchanged—to exist alongside the daily lives of its people.
Rather than framing post-disaster Hualien through a dramatic narrative of “recovery,” this project turns its attention to a quieter, more resilient continuity of life.
Lives that persist without being spoken of as something exceptional, even while carrying their wounds.
By overlapping these scenes with the image of Hualien as a flower of hope, this work records them through photography and film.
