I create work exploring what “light” means to humans.
In 2019, I began creating after wondering whether blind people could experience my work.
When expressing everyday emotions, memories, and sensations, I appeal to the senses through the language of my artworks.
I believed this method could convey more than words alone to diverse audiences.
However, for the visually impaired, photographs and paintings are merely paper, canvas covered in paint, and projected images are just walls.
To confront this issue, I studied braille and visual impairment, and worked at a facility providing information for the visually impaired.
Through my interactions with blind and visually impaired individuals, I came to see that the most crucial thing in communication is “to exhaust words.”
I wish to pursue images that can be equally obtained by both the sighted and the blind, through the medium of light that shines equally upon all.
