"“TIDE” is a body of work that Furusato Hiromi has continued to photograph over a period of approximately ten years, from 2015 to the present, focusing on a woman living in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture, along with the people who share the same era and the expanding scenes and landscapes around them.

While wavering within the elusive nature of the “present,” a tangible sense of our own existence—of being alive and present—collides and dissolves within the photographs. Through the acceptance of uncertainty, the work attempts to explore the state of “being” and the concept of the “present,” beyond meaning itself.

This exhibition presents works selected from the 56 photographs included in TIDE, Furusato’s first photobook, to be published by AKAAKAsha."
