7 days x 7 years

7 Days × 7 Years. A photography exhibition exploring how time shapes perception, memory, and belonging through image and sound.

The project brings together two distinct temporal positions.

Iris Fuzaro approaches Japan as a transient visitor, working within a seven-day time frame.
Her photographs are produced on film, embracing delay and imperfection.
Grain, blur, and scratches are not treated as flaws, but as traces of time inscribed onto the image.
The analog process resists immediacy, allowing moments to unfold slowly and retain physical presence.

In contrast, Erick Rosa presents a body of work developed over seven years of living in Tokyo.
His photographs are digital and emerge from repetition and routine.
The same streets revisited across seasons, the same spaces observed as changes accumulate.
Individually fleeting, these images gain weight through duration, forming an archive of continuity, absence, and transformation.

Rather than opposing two photographic practices, 7 Days × 7 Years juxtaposes them to create a dialogue.
Through this conversation, the exhibition reveals how relationships to time generate distinct ways of seeing, living, and remembering.

It asks whether brief encounters can reveal truths that long familiarity may obscure, and whether sustained presence uncovers meanings invisible at first glance.

This dialogue has a soundtrack of its own, composed and performed by Lucas Mayer.

Sound functions as both a spatial and conceptual extension of the photographic works.
The exhibition is organized into two sonic environments, each corresponding to a photographic timeline.

Iris’s analog images are paired with acoustic textures and analog instruments, emphasizing tactility, breath, and temporal delay.
Erick’s digital photographs are accompanied by digital instruments, synthesizers, and looping structures that evoke accumulation and continuity.

Through a Dolby Atmos–based spatial mix and in-exhibition controls, these sound environments gradually overlap, allowing analog and digital temporalities to converge within the space.

Following its first presentation in Tokyo, the Kyoto iteration marks a new phase of the project.
The exhibition coincides with the release of a limited-edition vinyl record featuring the sound installation soundtrack, accompanied by a photographic booklet.

Together, these elements extend the exhibition beyond the gallery. Transforming it into a portable archive where image and sound continue to unfold over time.

7 Days × 7 Years invites viewers to pause, listen, and reconsider how memory is formed. Not only through duration, but through the impressions our minds carry forward.
