Akinori Nitta, Makoto Kitaguchi

Uncartain World / Uncartain Self

A two-person exhibition by photographers Akinori Nitta and Makoto Kitaguchi.

Through the medium of photography, the two artists explore the uncertainty of existence in the contemporary world, as well as the instability of what is seen and how we see.

Akinori Nitta creates works centered on the theme of the uncertainty of existence. Focusing on spaces that have lost their purpose due to human absence, and on scenes, objects, and relationships suspended in meaning, he captures the subtle sense of unease and anxiety embedded in everyday life. His photographs present a liminal sensibility in which realities assumed to be certain begin to waver.

Makoto Kitaguchi approaches his practice through the reconstruction of photographic images. Taking ambiguity as his central theme—arising in the space between perception and materiality, recognition and memory—he investigates the instability of seeing and visibility in contemporary society, and questions the nature of the image itself.
