A cycle of life and death, endlessly repeated. That immeasurable circulation creates paths and shapes the world. In this very moment, how will the single step I take affect the path? Swaying, wavering, then resolving to move forward— so that the death awaiting at the end of that path may be filled with love.
When smoke, changing its form moment by moment as it rises, functions as a medium that guides human consciousness from the everyday toward a transcendent dimension, it becomes a path—a map that points to the past, the present, and the future.
When the scent of smoke drifts through the air, scenes of the past become connected. Are these recorded images memories we hold, or records of choices made long ago? The smoke that recalls the paths of the past—what kind of future does it reveal ahead? We capture a fleeting moment of this flow, rooted since ancient times in human life and belief, and gaze toward where it ascends beyond the flame.
Works suspended within FOR/M KYOTO, a place renowned for its remarkable soundscape. I invite you to experience the scenery that captures a moment in time, together with the sound that flows through it.

To coincide with Yasutaka Okada’s exhibition “The Path” at KG+, a live performance by Yasutaka Okada as a music artist will be presented. Through ambient sound resonating within the space alongside the photographs from The Path, audiences will be invited to experience a holistic and immersive form of expression.
