I Know where I stand
Inspiration often arises from moments of quiet poignancy, and this series is no exception. The genesis of I Know Where I Stand lies in a chance encounter during a street photography session in Hong Kong’s Central district. Outside a traditional dried seafood shop, a small cat basked in the sunlight, leaning against a simple, four-legged iron frame. Upon closer observation, I discovered that the cat was blind—its eyes unable to perceive the world around it. The humble frame served as a boundary, shielding the cat from the footsteps of bustling passersby. Yet, despite its blindness, the cat seemed at peace, embodying a silent yet profound truth: I know where I stand. This moment became a gateway to deeper reflection. Through everyday encounters with unassuming details—like the warmth of sunlight or the simplicity of protective structures—I seek to understand the world and, in turn, delve into my own inner landscape. These small yet profound moments connect us to a universal longing: to find one’s place amidst the chaos and beauty of life.
