Water Garden - Hazama
"Water Garden - Hazama" is a work born from the exploration of how the Japanese aesthetic is expressed through nature. This piece delves into the origins of Japanese rock gardens, using stones and sand to abstractly recreate natural landscapes. The design, which brings introspection and tranquility to viewers, reflects the irregular beauty of nature while its meticulously calculated arrangements aim to evoke a sense of inner peace. The filming locations, chosen for their connections to Japanese mythology and reverence for nature, capture landscapes that evoke thoughts of rock gardens while touring scenes of seas and lakes. These landscapes are confronted and beautifully balanced vistas are captured. The subtitle "Hazama" refers to the twilight just after sunset, a time that marks the boundary between the ordinary and the extraordinary, a period "in-between" when the Japanese aesthetic is reflected. This fleeting transitional phase provides viewers with a meditative and introspective experience.
