Till someone whisper
In the winter of 2023, I traveled to Alaska. Driven by my desire to photograph Alaska’s vast, snow-covered wilderness, I embarked on my journey with my camera. Through the train window, passing towns and distant mountain ridge lines stretched into a dreamlike landscape, softened by thick snow. Determined to capture each fleeting moment, I kept my camera poised. I arrived in Barrow, the northernmost town in Alaska. As I walked across the endless snow, I paused, surrounded by a silence so deep it felt as if the world had lost all sound. Drawn to a single window, I stopped to gaze. From somewhere far away, a faint whisper reached me—a distant, gentle voice. It felt as though the memories of those who had lived here were etched in the snow, carried by the wind, quietly passing on their stories. In the silent white world, I felt as if I had touched the lingering thoughts of someone before me. As I removed my gloves to change the film, the icy air immediately stung my hands. Standing motionless in the snowfield bathed in the hues of the setting sun, I quietly reflected on the quiet beauty of simply being there.
