Atelier Ricken Backer fifth exhibition
Exhibition Concept More than 100 years have passed since Alfred Stieglitz’s Equivalent, and today, various photographers continue to reflect the times through their images, shaping the landscape of contemporary photography. The subjects of their works are diverse, often serving as an antithesis to their respective eras or as manifestations of thought that could not have existed before. Atelier Rickenbacker, where I serve as representative and director, is a space and community where photographers gather to create. Most of our affiliated artists belong to the so-called younger generation, akin to new sprouts in the field of photography. For this exhibition, we have carefully selected 11 artists from our roster to present their works across two galleries in a wall-mounted display format. The theme of this exhibition is “Shaping” (Katadoru), showcasing each artist’s unique interpretation of the concept. Born in the Heisei era and living in the Reiwa era, these young creators explore their doubts and interests, aiming to connect with the world through the medium of photography. This exhibition aspires to broadcast their perspectives and ideas to a global audience.
