Experiments with Light
This photography exhibition explores the beauty of light through both science and art, showcasing images from pinhole diffraction, single-slit, and double-slit experiments. The word "photography" means "writing with light." Traditionally, photography captures light reflected off objects, but this series aims to photograph light itself, visually presenting its intrinsic forms. The exhibited images include intricate light patterns formed by pinhole diffraction, soft fringes created by single-slit experiments, and striking interference patterns generated by double-slit experiments. The red light fringes resemble rhythmic waves, while the rainbow-like gradients reveal the rich colors and layers of light. These patterns vividly demonstrate the dual wave-particle nature of light, offering viewers an intuitive understanding of its unique behaviors under different conditions. The creator, with a background in physics, was inspired by a desire to understand light and a passion for quantum mechanics. Drawing on an experimental spirit, the photographer set aside the traditional use of a camera lens, instead allowing light to directly strike the sensor. By varying the parameters of the light source, slits, and sensor, these images capture light in its purest form. The result is not only a visual representation of scientific phenomena but also a fusion of science and art in an experimental masterpiece.
