Wander the impermanence
“Wander on four limbs, with no destination Stop for an instant, feeling the warmth of sunshine, and start walking again, scenting the ocean Walk my ordinary road, coming across various people In a good mood, getting my head stroked in a good rhythm Soft coat sways, leaving the word "see you again" behind Gentle breeze of Setouchi blows, everywhere I go” Street photography is my life work. I used to travel and walk around various countries for capturing dramatic moments, until COVID-19 pandemic deprived me of freedom of expression. In a frustration that disables us to do what we could naturally, I was making choices to live. As soon as the state of emergency declaration has been lifted, I had a strong urge to take photos, which drove me to a trip to Setouchi. There, islands are lined up with Shimanami Sea Route beautifully, extending an endless blue gradation. Passing through the sea route, I got to Onomichi. During the journey, I met many people. Residents of Setouchi were "meddlesomely" kind, such as those who guided me around the island, who treated me a cup of tea in their house, and who drunk together... They all welcomed me who was a traveler. I remember myself clicking the shutter, feeling the warmth of human heart from conversations with them. Cats which live in "Cat Alley" in Onomichi seem very happy, greeted and rubbed by passersby. I identified those cats with myself traveling Setouchi, then decided to make it into a collection of works. While walking around hilly towns of Onomichi, I felt a lot of emotions. Every time 1 visit there, I can feel their kindness. On the other hand, I gradually started to feel impermanence, or transition of lives, when I saw the scenes of fleetingness, for example where an old house is returning to nature. Days keep changing, even if they seem unchanging. That is why I will continue to release the shutter, so that I can cherish each moment.
