#07
Date: 05.05 Tue. 15:00-17:00
Venue: Horikawaoike gallery
Lecturer: Yuki Nakazawa (KG+ Program Director)

As grand narratives have faded, society has shifted toward a decentralized, self-reliant structure.
With the decline of once-prominent gateways for young photographers, such as corporate-sponsored competitions and photography magazines, and the rise of a globalized, information-driven world, the values and modes of activity have drastically changed.
The emergence of KYOTOGRAPHIE/KG+ after the Great East Japan Earthquake parallels innovations in communication and technology, such as smartphones and social media (alongside a decrease in camera sales).

How have artistic expressions evolved to reflect these societal transformations?
From Modernism to Postmodernism, through the rise of the Internet, social media, and now AI — where are our gazes directed today?
Through an interdisciplinary perspective informed by firsthand experience in photography festivals, we will explore how photography is positioned within the broader context of these shifts, tracing its journey through contemporary landscapes.
