Shōki-san is a protective and academic deity that originated in China and was later introduced to Japan. He became famous for appearing in the dream of a Tang Dynasty emperor and defeating evil spirits. In Kyoto, many Shōki-san statues stand atop rooftops in the Higashiyama district, guarding the city from misfortune. In this workshop, we will use ceramic clay to create our own unique Shōki-san figures together!
